A study on the Correlation between Quality of Sleep and Dry eye in Workers

Abstract
Purpose: This study was performed to investigate the effect of workers¡¯ quality of sleep on dry eye.

Methods: Using the survey data with 201 workers, the subjects¡¯ general characteristics, Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI) and Ocular Surface Disease Index(ODSI) were applied with self-recording type.

Results: The quality of the workers¡¯ sleep was not good, and the degree of dry eye was also high. The dry eye and the quality of sleep appeared not good with the following conditions such as women, less than 8 hours worker, smart phone users over 5 hours, wearing contact lens, pills for sleeping, smoker, drinking alcohol three to five times a week, and having more than 3 cups of drink included caffeine per day. It was shown that there was a correlation between dry eye and quality of sleep, and the quality of sleep contributed to dry eye.

Conclusions: It was identified that the quality of the sleep was worse, the more the dry eye felt.
